About this game

A serious typing workout that separates two things most tests confuse: how hard the text is, and how much of it you type. Difficulty sets the content — Easy is common words and light punctuation, Medium is real prose with capitals and punctuation, Hard adds numbers, symbols, and longer technical words. Independently, choose a passage of one to three paragraphs, or a timed 15/30/60-second run. Passages never repeat until you've cycled through the whole pool, so every attempt is fresh practice. As you type, the caret advances over the text, mistakes are highlighted, and you see live net WPM (errors penalised), raw WPM (pure speed), and accuracy. Finish to unlock a mini graph of your speed over the test, a consistency score, and true keystroke accuracy — which counts every wrong key even if you fixed it. WPM uses the standard five-characters-per-word convention, and your best is saved per difficulty, on your device.

Example

On Medium, Passage, Short you get one paragraph of real prose. Type it exactly — mistype a letter and it turns red and counts against accuracy. Net WPM = (characters ÷ 5 − errors) ÷ minutes, so racing ahead with lots of mistakes lowers your score. Switch to Hard for numbers and symbols, or Timed 30s to see how far you get against the clock.

How to play

  1. 1Pick a difficulty (Easy / Medium / Hard) and choose Passage or Timed.
  2. 2For a passage, set the length (1–3 paragraphs); for timed, pick 15/30/60 seconds.
  3. 3Just start typing — the clock starts on your first keystroke.
  4. 4Type the text exactly; wrong characters are marked and count against accuracy.
  5. 5Finish to see net & raw WPM, accuracy, a speed graph, consistency, and true keystroke accuracy — and whether you beat your best for that difficulty.

Frequently asked questions

How is WPM calculated?

Words are standardised at five characters. Raw WPM = (all typed characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes; net WPM subtracts your errors, which is the fairer measure of useful speed.

What's the difference between accuracy and 'true' accuracy?

Accuracy scores your final text. True keystroke accuracy counts every wrong key you pressed even if you fixed it afterwards — the honest picture of how cleanly you type.

What is the consistency score?

It rates how steady your speed was across the test, from the variation in your moment-to-moment WPM. A smooth, even pace scores high; bursts and stalls score low.

What's a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is average; 60–80 WPM is fast; professional typists exceed 100 WPM. Accuracy and consistency matter as much as raw speed.
