Image Converter

Convert between JPG, PNG, and WebP.

Runs entirely on your device — your files never leave your browser.

Drop an image to convert

PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF · drag & drop, paste, or click to browse

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or sent to a server.

Converting to JPG or WebP re-encodes the picture (lossy), and moving to a format without transparency fills any see-through areas with white. It all happens in your browser — your image isn't uploaded. Read our full disclaimer.

About this tool

Different places want different image formats: JPG is accepted almost everywhere, PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency, and WebP is usually the smallest for the same quality. This tool re-encodes your image from one to another, with a quality slider for the lossy formats. Drop an image in, choose a target, and download — no upload and no sign-in.

Example

A 2.5 MB PNG screenshot converted to WebP at quality 85 often drops to a few hundred KB while looking the same — ideal for the web.

How to use

  1. 1Drop in a JPG, PNG, or WebP.
  2. 2Choose the format to convert to; we default to one different from your source.
  3. 3For JPG or WebP, set a quality level.
  4. 4Convert and download the new file.

Features

  • Convert between JPG, PNG, and WebP.
  • Quality control for the lossy formats (JPG and WebP).
  • Transparency handled sensibly — converting to JPG fills transparent areas with white.
  • One image in, one converted file out, entirely on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Which format gives the smallest file?

Usually WebP — similar visual quality to JPG at a smaller size, with transparency support as a bonus. JPG is the safest for maximum compatibility; PNG is best for graphics or anything with transparency you must keep.

Why did my transparent PNG get a white background as a JPG?

JPG has no transparency channel, so those pixels have to become a solid colour — we use white. Convert to PNG or WebP instead if you need to keep transparency.

Does converting lose quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP re-encodes and is lossy, so use the quality slider — 80 to 90 is usually indistinguishable from the original.

Can it convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?

Not yet — HEIC needs a decoder we haven't added. For now, convert HEIC to JPG on your device first, then bring that into this tool.
