Frequently asked questions
Does cleaning reduce the image quality?
No. Unlike re-saving or converting, this doesn't re-compress the picture — it removes the metadata sections of the file and leaves the image data exactly as it was.
What exactly gets removed?
The hidden metadata: EXIF (GPS location, camera make/model, date and time, exposure settings), XMP edit history, and text notes stored in the file. The visible image is untouched.
My photo looks rotated after cleaning — why?
Some cameras store the picture sideways plus an 'orientation' tag telling apps to turn it. Removing metadata removes that tag, so a few viewers show the raw pixels. The image isn't damaged — open and re-save it upright, and it's fine.
Can I clean a HEIC photo from my iPhone?
Not directly — this tool handles JPG and PNG. Convert the HEIC to JPG on your device first, then clean that.
