Watermark PDF

Stamp text like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL across a PDF.

Runs entirely on your device — your files never leave your browser.

Drop a PDF to watermark

Then set the text to stamp across every page · drag & drop, paste, or click to browse

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or sent to a server.

This stamps your text as a semi-transparent overlay on top of every page — it's a visible label, not security. The original words and images underneath stay intact and selectable, and a determined person could edit the stamp off, so don't treat it as redaction or protection. Your original file isn't changed; a new stamped copy is made in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Read our full disclaimer.

About this tool

When you send a proposal that isn't final, or a document you want clearly marked as yours, a watermark says so at a glance. This tool lays your text over every page as a faint overlay — the classic diagonal stamp, a repeated tile, or a single upright line — and hands back a new PDF. It's an overlay for labelling, not a lock: the underlying content is untouched. The whole thing happens in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.

A common use

Before circulating a draft contract, stamp 'DRAFT' diagonally at about 25% opacity in grey — clearly marked, but the text underneath still reads fine.

How to use

  1. 1Drop in the PDF you want to mark.
  2. 2Type the text to stamp — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a name, anything up to 60 characters.
  3. 3Pick a layout (diagonal, tiled, or horizontal), then a size and colour.
  4. 4Slide the opacity to taste — lighter is subtler, heavier stands out.
  5. 5Add the watermark, and the stamped copy downloads.

Features

  • Stamps your text on every page in one go.
  • Three layouts: diagonal, tiled, or horizontal.
  • Adjustable size, colour, and opacity.
  • Leaves the original content untouched — a new copy is created.
  • Runs entirely on your device; the PDF is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can the watermark be removed later?

It's a visible overlay, not protection — someone with the right software could edit it out. Use it to label and communicate (draft, confidential, ownership), not to secure or redact a document.

Does it change my original file?

No. Your original stays exactly as it was; the tool builds a separate stamped copy and downloads that.

Can I watermark only some pages?

This stamps every page the same way. To mark just a few, split those pages out first, watermark them, then merge them back with the rest.

Can I use my logo or an image as the watermark?

Not in this tool — it stamps text only. If you need an image mark, turn your logo into a page and overlay it another way; a text stamp covers most 'draft' and 'confidential' needs.
